CranioSacral Therapy is so gentle and wonderful for babies and children. The treatment respects the needs of each baby/child and works at the pace that their body needs to help it heal.
Though the craniosacral therapist uses a very light touch, the bodywork is deeply transformative and healing—physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
It helps release any birth strain and gives them the best start to life.
Babies can benefit so much with relief from birthing difficulties, colic, reflux, tongue tie, mis-shapen head, feeding difficulties and latching on. I believe every newborn should be offered CranioSacral therapy on their first day of birth.
CranioSacral therapy works on many areas including the Nervous System, Immune System and Endocrine System. Any child experiencing sensory disorders, anxiety or worries, asthma or constant colds, ear infections really respond well to the positive and relaxing effects of this treatment.
The treatment is ideally done by lying on the treatment table and can last from 15mins to 1hr. But the truth is not all children want to lie down. They might want to sit under the table in a cave or cuddle in their parents arms whilst having a story read to them. Or just chill on a bean bag and play with some toys.
CranioSacral therapy can be done in all these cases as it is dynamic and we work with the needs of the individual.
A session is 45mins but can run from 15-60 minutes. It all depends on the needs of the child. This includes going through your health consultation at the first session. It is important to remember that the treatment will cause lasting effects so you will continue to experience re-balancing and integration for at least 36 hours after the actual treatment.
I recommend 2 sessions as a start. Then it will vary according to why you are coming for Craniosacral Therapy. Most people with a specific complaint will have several treatments at weekly intervals until some definite improvement is maintained, before decreasing the frequency of treatment. After a course of treatment, many people will still choose to come for Craniosacral Therapy on a monthly or seasonal basis to maintain health. The is extremely beneficial to the health of a child. As they grow they get constant bumps and falls. This can cause their soft bones to get jammed. Craniosacral should be seen as a preventive and a way to support a healthy life rather than resolving an issue.
